On winning the Ballon d’Or, Karim Benzema said; “I have worked tirelessly from a very young age. Zidane and Ronaldo were my idols. The Ballon d’Or was my dream. I had hard times, I never gave up. I am so much more happy now because of that ‘ he declared.
Karim Benzema became the first Muslim football player to receive the award.
