Shipowner | Ship owner, carrier |
Agency | An organization that operates on behalf of a shipowner in any port and acts as his representative. |
NVOCC | ”Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier” is a company that carries out transportation without owning a ship. |
Co-Loader | A company that consolidates the cargoes of other forwarders with its own cargo. |
Forwarder | The organizing company that carries out the operation of road, air, sea, railway transportation, customs clearance and insurance services and has an active agency network. |
Ocean Bill of Lading (B/L) | Marine bill of lading |

Charter Transportation | It is the transportation made by renting the ship completely or partially (part cargo). |
Charter Party | This is the name given to the contract concluded between the carrier and the Deckhand |
Bulk Loading | Bulk loading in conventional freight transportation. |
Broker | A broker who acts as an intermediary between the Deckhand and the loader. Prepares a c/p between the freight owner and the carrier, receives the freight from the broker, Decises the commission and sends the rest to the carrier. He resolves disputes between the owner of the cargo and the Decoy. Brokers connect cargo, find ships, buy and sell ships, do business. Brokers are divided into 2 by 1. Those who find cargo on the ship, 2. They are the ones who find the cargo ship. Broker commissions are usually 1.25. if it is called 3.75, the 2.5 address commission is the broker commission at 1.25. |
Address Commission | The freight owner receives a commission as if he finds a freight. |

Expedition Cost | covers fuel + oil + water + port costs + loading and unloading costs. |

Depreciation | My annual decrease based on the wear and tear of the ship. If we have bought the ship for $10,000,000, $1,000,000 is deducted from the annual earnings every year to pay it off in 10 years. The expense is counted and the tax is deducted. |

Sous polan | The goods do not land at the customs warehouse while the goods are on the way, the buyer pays the customs and receives the cargo directly from the ship. |
Kabbalah | Instead of the worker working on time for 1 day, for example; Making an agreement in the form of loading 300 tons in 1 day and completing the work. |
PORT TERMS | |
Storage | Port storage / storage room |
Demurrage | If the ship exceeds the loading and unloading time assigned to it, or if the cargo waiting in the container is not withdrawn from customs and unloaded before the assigned time. |
Free Time | The free time is the time that the load can wait without demurrage. Demurrage is applied during the time out. |
THC (Terminal Handling Fee) | The handling fee at the port |
Temporary Acceptance | In accordance with the customs legislation in Turkey, containers are goods subject to customs. For this reason, it is the customs clearance cost incurred if a container is removed from the bonded area at the port or brought back to the port. |
FREIGHT RELATED TERMS | |

Ad Valorem | Freight according to the value of the freight. (If the loader does not declare the real value of the cargo, he receives the damage from the damage that will occur according to his declaration) |
Back Freight | The return freight is the freight requested when the cargo is not accepted by the buyer when it is brought back to the port of loading. |
Paid Freight | Advance payment CIF (The bill of lading should not be delivered until it is known that the freight has been paid.) |
Dead Freight | If the dead freight is agreed to 25000 tons with a 25000-ton ship, but it loads 20000 tons, the dead freight is requested for the missing 5000 tons of cargo. |

TYPES OF BILLS OF LADING | |
Received B/L | It is given as received for small parcel loads to be accumulated in the warehouse. |
Shipped B/L | It is given to the goods loaded on the ship. |
Trough B/L | Used in combined transports (land + sea + train) connected transports. |
Order B/L | (To the Order/Bearer) receives the cargo that brings the bill of lading. |
Direct B/L | The receiver name is written on the Nam in B/L only he receives the load. – The buyer signs only the front side of the bill of lading. – The B/L we signed also says how many originals and copies there are. It should be signed with attention to this. – B/L should not be signed before the entire cargo is received. It should be noted that this is the date of receipt of the entire cargo. – It is important to check the availability of B/L information with Mate Receipt. – Missing/damaged load on Mate Receipt, etc. comments should be written in B/L. – If the remarks in the Mate Receipt are not in B/L and the load is missing, do not show the Mate Receipt to the ash. – After receiving the bill of lading and delivering the cargo, when the evacuation is completed, completed is written on the bill of lading and sealed and signed, so that the provision of the bill of lading does not remain. |
